Every demographic has a preferred term to identify itself. It could be African-American instead of black, Asian instead of Oriental, Christian, Straight, Women, etc..... Gay (correct me if I'm wrong berticus) is the respectful term of choice by most Gay people. Gay is a nice happy alternative to the cold, clinical and distancing word 'homosexual' that FAUX news likes to use.
So my question is how would it make you feel if one of your unchangeable identifying characteristics was used as a euphemism for stupid or lame? I'm guessing you probably wouldn't like it. "Wow, that new Ewe Bol movie was so Christian", "OMG, John Tesh's music is so heterosexual", "That Carrot Top joke was so feminine"
It's true that white has been used as a euphemism for unhip - although not so much any more - and while this is wrong in principle, the fact that white people are rarely subject to abuse on the basis of their skin color makes this insult less menacing. Abuse of Gay people is still tolerated to a large degree in this society.
I'm not Gay, but many of my close friends have been Gay throughout my life. I've been chewed out for calling things gay and using the word 'cocksucker', so I'm speaking from experience.
My 2 cents.

School choice would only benefit those who attend private school. Their tuition fees would be subsidized by the government, but would see no real educational improvement. Those who don't attend private school would get the shaft. Without the bargaining power of big bucks, these kids would get McSchool and Kinder*Mart. Cheap, fun and completely devoid of educational value.
You complain about Washington bureaucrats, but seem to see no potential problems with business bureaucrats. The Washington bureaucrats answer to us, business bureaucrats do not. It seems like you are saying the best way to make education more democratic is by making education less democratic.
