Well, this kind of fear-mongering works, apparently. I have a few friends who are very pro-bush/Mccain. One of them even insists that he's seen the projections that once we pull out of Iraq, extremists will conquer europe first, before coming after us on our own continent. It's not the ludicrousness of the story that makes it so scary, but the utter conviction he says it with. The world's a scary place, full of people that hate us, and only the Republican party stands between us and them.

Sarah Palin's daughter pregnant!

Leaving the family out of it is the decent thing to do. That's why it's so infuriating to see this come up now, after the GOP went after Michelle Obama so hard in the past, trying to paint her as unpatriotic. It shouldn't have come up then, and negativity towards Palin has no place here now, but I'll bet anything that the GOP stance will be quite different now that the shoe is on the other foot. I really hate politics sometimes.

It took me a moment to realize what seemed off with the video, but did they greenscreen the reporter onto the scene at the end? Nothing screams "fake" so hard as objects in the foreground and background being in perfect focus at the same time.

Military Donates 6 Times more to Obama than to McCain

It's kind of interesting to see these numbers, especially the difference where servicemen not on combat duty provide greater support for Mccain. I guess it's easier to be pro-war when your neck's not on the chopping block.

Might have been a glitch, but it couldn't have come at a more convenient time. It wasn't Fox news, though, right? I don't think anyone was really "pulling the plug" here, they just lost their signal as they said.

The Shockwave Jet Truck

A lot of military-grade jet engines use afterburners, which ignite a second fuel stream injected past the turbine. Gives a lot more power, but at a huge efficiency cost. It certainly looks like the truck is using those at the end, when it accelerates down the track. All those showy flames in the first part of the vid look to be cosmetic, though. Probably something installed to burn some extra inflammant, which the truck is already using to make the exhaust coming out of the smokestacks flame up.

It's amazing how much stuff like this they can get away with, and any attempts to bring them to account for it are slapped down as "partisan politics". There's no doubt democrats would be the biggest ones gunning for it, but at what point should the rest of us stop looking the other way?
