It's one of my favorite movies, and definitely my favorite Japanese movie. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and do so today.

The song is Yumegiwa Last Boy by the Japanese band Supercar.

More Supercar:
http://www.videosift.com/video/Humans-with-Rocketing-Anatomy-inexplicable-Japanese-video
http://www.videosift.com/video/Supercar-Be-twisted-Japanese-music-video
http://www.videosift.com/video/SUPERCAR-Storywriter-Live-at-Fuji-Rock-Festival-2002
http://www.videosift.com/video/SUPERCAR-LAST-SCENE
http://www.videosift.com/video/SUPERCAR-PLANET-PV

(12 votes - 8 comments - 942 views)
This music video is referencing the next-to-last scene in the 1983 Japanese film The Family Game. The movie is full of dark humor and spot-on social commentary of Japan at the time (and to some extents, today as well). On top of that, ART-SCHOOL is a highly successful Japanese rock band that I absolutely love; hidarikiki no kiki is the title track off their latest mini-album from September 2007.

More ART-SCHOOL:
http://www.videosift.com/video/ART-SCHOOL-Swan-Song-PV-Japanese-music-video
NUMBER GIRL - I don't know PV

(14 votes - 1 comment - 815 views)
PV of the 2002 single "I don't know" by the band NUMBER GIRL. NG was one of the biggest things to ever happen to the indie rock scene of Japan. With a career of only four albums from 1995 to 2002, they played with and influenced many great rock groups in Japan. One of the most noteable influences is the popular band ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, whose song "N.G.S." purportedly stands for "Number Girl Syndrome."

The band broke up, but all four members are still active in music.

Vocalist Mukai Shuutoku runs the Matsuri Studio label and is in an experimental/prog-rock group called Zazen Boys.

Lead guitarist Hisako Tabuchi fronts the group Toddle and plays lead guitar for bloodthirsty butchers (I sifted one of their PVs here: http://www.videosift.com/video/bloodthirsty-butchers-JACK-NICOLSON-PV).

Drummer Ahito Inazawa is now the frontman of a band called VOLA & THE ORIENTAL MACHINE.

Bassist Kentarou Nakao now plays bass for Sloth Lovechunks.

This particular PV was what got me hooked on NG.
